School Report Cards for Schools in the state of Arkansas

The Arkansas Department of Education recently released their annual school report cards for every public school in Arkansas. The purpose of the report cards is to allow parents the opportunity to evaluate how well their child’s school is performing.

Here are the grades for schools in Howard County.

The Nashville School District received the following scores: Nashville Elementary – B, Nashville Junior High – C and Nashville High School – C.

The Dierks School District received a C for the JoAnn Walters Elementary School and a C for the Dierks High School.

The Mineral Springs School District received an F for the elementary school and a D for the high school.

And, the Umpire K-12 campus of the Cossatot River School District scored a B.

The Cossatot River School Board will be meeting tonight to discuss closing the Umpire campus due to low student enrollment and rising operational cost.

In Pike County, the Murfreesboro Elementary of the South Pike County School District received a B, while the Murfreesboro High School received a C.

The Centerpoint Elementary received a B and the Centerpoint High School also received a B. The Centerpoint School District consists of the old Glenwood School District and the Amity School District.

Other schools from the surrounding area that received a letter grade of B were Foreman Elementary and the Hope Academy of Public Service.

Schools with a letter grade of C included: Ashdown Elementary, Ashdown High School, Foreman High School, Horatio Elementary and High School and Blevins High School.

Schools with a letter of grade of D included: Prescott Elementary, Junior High and High schools, Ashdown Junior High, Hope High School, Beryl Henry Upper Elementary in Hope, Clinton Primary in Hope and Yerger Junior High in Hope.

Schools receiving an F included the Blevins Elementary.

The state department emphasized that several factors go into determining a school’s letter grade including free and reduced lunch percentage, enrollment, graduation rate, ACT scores and student/teacher ratio.
