Pike County receives FEMA grant

Pike County has received a Federal Emergency Management Performance Grant. County Judge Dwight Mack said the grant, awarded by FEMA, will total more than $24,000 dollars.
During Monday’s October quorum court meeting, J.P.’s approved a resolution supporting Issue One that’s on the November ballot. The matter calls for a permanent tax to be levied by voters with funds going to road construction & improvements in the state. Cities and counties would also receive a portion of the funds for road and street departments. The Association of Arkansas counties says the expiration of the existing tax would mean a loss of $384,462 dollars to the Pike County Road Department. Incorporated towns in Pike County would stand to lose a combined 102 thousand dollars. The lost revenue figures begin in 2024, once the current tax collection expires.
