Dierks School Board votes to extend superintendent’s contract

Members of the Dierks School Board voted to extend the contact of Superintendent Jody Cowart during the January regular meeting.

Board members also approved the purchase of 10 vape detectors from KLC in the amount of $13,781. The detectors will be linked to the district’s camera system. The detectors will be in the restrooms and locker rooms.

Cowart reported all five members of the Dierks School Board has earned the required amount of board training. He also expressed his appreciation for their support.

The Dierks School District held its Annual Report to the public and reported the district is fully accredited with a total of 506 students.

According to the district’s ESEA status report, the high earned a B and the elementary school earned a C.

Superintendent Jody Cowart reported there were no findings on the district’s 2018/2019 legislative audit.

Currently, the district has three teachers working under an Alternative Learning Plan.
